ASUS ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 Motherboard

ASUS Expands Socket AM5 Motherboard Lineup with ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7

ASUS has introduced the new ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 motherboard to its Socket AM5 lineup. This marks the first time the AMD 800-series chipset generation has received the Strix-H (hero) tier of motherboards from ASUS. Previously, ASUS had only offered other levels such as Strix-F (formula), Strix-E (extreme), Strix-G (gene), and Strix-I (impact). It's important to note that the Strix-H (hero) tier is different from the ROG Crosshair Hero tier, which is positioned even higher than the Strix-E tier.

The ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 features a standard ATX form-factor and is powered by a combination of 24-pin ATX and two 8-pin EPS connectors. It boasts a 16+2+1 phase CPU VRM with 80 A DrMOS on the V-Core phases. In comparison, the more premium ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi7 offers an 18+2+2 phase VRM with 110 A DrMOS on these phases. The motherboard includes four DDR5 DIMM slots, a PCI-Express 5.0 x16 slot with an easy eject mechanism, and four M.2 NVMe slots.

Network connectivity on the ASUS ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 includes Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4, powered by a Realtek RTL8922AE 160 MHz WLAN controller. For wired networking, there is a 5 GbE interface driven by a Realtek RTL8126 PHY.

USB connectivity options on the motherboard include various ports on the rear panel such as two 40 Gbps USB4 type-C ports, one 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C with 30 W power delivery, three 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-A, six 5 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 1, and two USB 2.0 ports. Front panel USB options consist of a 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 header, two 5 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports.

The SupremeFX onboard audio solution on the ASUS ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 remains unchanged from the more premium ROG Strix boards based on this chipset. It features a Realtek ALC1220P CODEC (120 dB SNR) and a Savitech SV3H712 AMP for the main front channels, designed for high impedance headphones.

Overall, the ASUS ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 offers a compelling alternative to the ROG Strix X870-F Gaming, especially for users seeking additional PCIe and NVMe connectivity.
