Noctua Unveils Next-Generation NH-D15 CPU Cooler

Noctua has released the first images of its upcoming NH-D15 CPU cooler, which is set to launch in 2024. The NH-D15 features a complete redesign, including two large fin-stacks that won't interfere with components around the CPU socket, such as VRM and SSD heatsinks, rear I/O shrouds, and memory. The fin-stacks are denser, with a reduced gap between fins of 1.6 mm, providing 20% more surface area for heat dissipation compared to the original NH-D15.

The cooler's surface for contact remains nickel-plated copper, but Noctua has increased the number of heatpipes from six to eight, each measuring 6 mm thick. The heatpipes make contact with practically the entire base plate, making the cooler suitable for chiplet-based processors. The NH-D15 comes with two "next-gen" 140 mm fans that offer superior performance and noise characteristics compared to Noctua's current lineup. The cooler uses Noctua's SecuFirm 2+ retention module, which uses spring-loaded screws to prevent excessive mounting pressure that can damage the motherboard PCB.

Noctua will include a tube of its latest NT-H2 thermal paste (9 W/mK) and NA-TPG1 thermal paste spill guard with the cooler. The company plans to launch the NH-D15 in Q2-2024.
