A streamer on Chinese site Bilibili has showcased an unrevealed graphics card from ASUS that features a unique characteristic - a slot for an M.2 NVMe SSD. The card is built on NVIDIA's GeForce RT 4060 Ti GPU and while some details remain unclear, it seems that ASUS is utilizing the unused PCIe lanes on the card, as the AD106 GPU only utilizes eight PCIe lanes. In theory, ASUS could have included two SSDs since there are a total of eight available lanes.
It is uncertain whether ASUS is relying on bifurcation or if the company has incorporated a bridge chip, but bifurcation seems more logical as a bridge chip would significantly increase costs. The advantage of having the NVMe drive on the GPU is that it also connects to the graphics card's heatsink, ensuring efficient cooling. However, for this to function properly, the SSD would need to be mounted in reverse compared to how it would be mounted on a motherboard. Based on test results, the SSD maintains a cool temperature of 42 degrees Celsius even during GPU stress testing. It is likely that this product will only be available in the Chinese market, if it is ever released for retail.
