Lenovo Announces the Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8) Gaming Laptop
Lenovo is introducing its flagship gaming laptop, the Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8), which is the first 16-inch gaming laptop in the Lenovo Legion lineup and in the world to feature a self-contained liquid-cooling system. This laptop is designed for gamers and creators who require heavy graphic workflow capabilities and want a portable development studio. The Lenovo Legion 9i completes the Lenovo Legion series, which includes the Lenovo Legion Pro series for competitive gamers and the Lenovo Legion Slim series for gamers who prioritize agility. Additionally, Lenovo offers Legion displays and peripherals. Alongside the laptop, Lenovo is also unveiling the Lenovo Legion 16" Gaming Backpack GB700 and GB400, providing gamers with options for slim and lightweight agility or extra storage without compromising protection for their laptops and accessories.
Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8) Features Integrated Liquid-Cooling and Forged Carbon A-Cover
The Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8) sets a new standard for powerful luxury in gaming laptops. It is equipped with a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, and either 64 GB Overclocked 5600Mhz Dual Channel DDR5 RAM or 32 GB Overclocked 6400Mhz DDR5 Dual Channel RAM. However, what truly sets this laptop apart is its innovative cooling system. The Legion Coldfront integrated liquid-cooling system, developed in collaboration with Cooler Master, allows the laptop to reach a maximum of 230 W TDP while weighing just 2.56 kg (5.64 lbs). The liquid-cooling system runs over the GPU VRAM to manage heat during intense gaming sessions, activating when the GPU reaches 84°C to cool it down. Combined with the AI-tuned, triple-fan air-cooling system with 6,333 individual intake vents, the Lenovo Legion 9i stays cool even during demanding gaming and content creation tasks. To accommodate the added weight of the liquid-cooling system, Lenovo engineers have designed a new A-cover made from forged carbon chips, which not only reduces weight but also gives each Lenovo Legion 9i a unique forged carbon chip pattern on the A-cover.
Immersive Display and Intelligent Features
The Lenovo Legion 9i features an up to Lenovo PureSight 3.2K Mini-LED 16:10 Display with a 165 Hz variable refresh rate. The display supports switching between DCI-P3 and sRBG color spaces using the pre-installed X-Rite software, thanks to per-unit factory color calibration. With a 94% screen-to-body ratio, the Mini-LED display delivers stunning visuals for gamers and content creators. The laptop also offers up to 2 TB of PCIe (Gen 4) SSD storage for ample game storage. The Lenovo LA-2 AI chip enhances the immersive experience by directly interfacing with the display to track frames-per-second and adjust power to the GPU and CPU accordingly, ensuring maximum FPS in any gaming scenario. The chip also synchronizes the Legion Spectrum RGB lighting present around the keyboard and bottom covers, on the top cover's Legion wordmark, and in the per-key RGB Lenovo TrueStrike keyboard with visuals on the screen. Additionally, the Tobii Horizon software provides gearless head tracking for an extra level of immersion during gameplay.
Portability and Connectivity
The Lenovo Legion 9i is equipped with a 99.99Whr battery that can be charged using the included 330 W Slim Adapter or the 140 W Type-C Power adapter. It offers Wi-Fi 74 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity through MediaTek's Filogic 380 Wi-Fi card, providing wireless speeds of up to 6.5 Gbps.
Software and Additional Features
The Lenovo Legion 9i comes with Windows 11 and a 3-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, allowing gamers to enjoy a wide selection of high-quality games. Nahimic by SteelSeries provides immersive 3D audio for a competitive edge in games, enhancing spatial awareness and teammate communication. The laptop also includes the Lenovo Vantage software application, which offers real-time performance dashboards, overclocking controls, and intelligent fan controls. Legion Arena consolidates owned games from multiple platforms, making it easier for gamers to find and play their favorite games. Optional Lenovo Premium Care support is available for advanced technical support and PC health check.
